Though replaced by the M1917 Shoe, many doughboys were still wearing these in France in 1917.

WPG reproductions are made in natural undyed leather like the originals.  They will darken with use and exposure to oil, sunlight and polish:

"When we formed for a formal inspection we were a motley crew, olive-drab campaign hats, coats in the original green, shoes tan to dark bronze depending on the wearer's preference for shoe polish, and with breeches and leggings all shades between olive-green and dazzling white."

US 1906 Entrenching Tool
The first pattern of the short T-handle entrenching tool, adopted around 1906, had no reinforcing metal on the back side of the handle.  Very few exist because this weakness led to frequent breakage.  WPG has recreated this rare shovel for the benefit of collectors interested in pre-WWI equipment. Our Price: US$ 32.00
