These will make excellent winter boots (they're warm so far, even though uninsulated, which is fine by me) please note these come with MANY removable felt insoles. For socks to use with these, might i recommend wrapping your leg from toe to knee with polo fleece wraps, or knee length arctic/snowboard socks. Also, when you get these, if you want any tread, you'll have to fasten your own sole to the bottom (lug works great) or fabricate your own sole with like, a piece of leather, and 3/4" hard rubber barstock.
