I've been looking to buy a black glengarry for my Black Watch uniform for a long time and I have been cheated upon on numerous occasions, also by dealers located in Britain itself! This one on the other hand, is actually quite much like my modern MOD issue, but the seam at the border is maybe twice as high and the toorie is a bit larger. HOWEVER, this is correct, for these are the features that distnguish a modern glengarry from a WWII isuue. The quality of the wool and the overall construction is very well made. The only small negative critiscism that I have is the fact that the cockade can not keep up with the quality of this bonnet (it's sides are too big) , but this can be easily rectified within five minutes. For me, this isn't as much of a problem, because the Black Watch had the cockades usually removed on the glengarries that they were issued.
This is the best alternative to the nowadays rather scarce original!
