Spent a lot of time looking for one of these. Well made and shipped quickly. Wish you had a 7 1/4 in stock but the 7 3/8 fits with a little room.

My favorite hat!
(2010-04-20)
I debated purchasing this hat for a long time. Then, when I had the money and the desire at the same time, I ordered it. I literally have hundreds of hats (including an original of this particular hat), and when I opened the package from WPG, I was a little disappointed because the hat was not pre-shaped. It is such a well made hat, though, that shaping it was easy & I now have a hat shaped just like I like it. I LOVE the hat. It has a great look and fits perfect. It is my favorite hat. Thanks, Jerry, for getting out of a sick bed to ship it to me.

Excellent
(2010-01-13)
This is the second fur hat I''ve purchased from WPG. The first was the 1911 Campaign Hat. I was so impressed by that I was willing to shell out the bucks for this one too.
The quality of this hat is excellent. From the weight of the fur felt to the securely attached leather sweatband and the little details like the star vents and ribbon. Yes this hat is pricey but it is money well spent.
One note. You will not get the hat in the picture. This hat gets shipped with what is called an ''open crown''. That means the top is a plain dome. You have to work in the ''bash'', the creases and dents that make it look like a cavalry hat or whatever period you want.
This hat runs true to size. I''m a 7 1/4 and ordered this size and it fit just perfect.
Like I said before, this is a hat you have to be unafraid to man-handle a bit to get it right. Yeah, it''s about $300 but don''t let the price scare you. Work it around with some water and steam or just raw with your hands. It can take it.
I''m not a Spanish American reenactor, but this is probably the best all around outdoor hat I''ve seen and I plan to put it to use in the Sierra''s this summer camping and fly fishing.
