I've seen and physically handled the original of Mackinaw coat, and this one is very true to it. It is perfect for the historic impression that I've adopted as a reenactor, but is also good-looking enough for civilian wear just because it will be a dang warm coat! I love it.

The officers shearling coat is a an excellent value. Well cut and made, the materials are high quality. Have now purchased two sweaters and a wool mackinaw coat in addition to the shearling, I have received compliments on all of them, including a couple of them while grocery shopping.
This shearling is going to be a great coat for WNY winters. It arrived the last couple of days of this recent cold snap and it is windproof and quite warm at 9F.
