I now have a new and much improved run of British WWI style SD caps. It has taken a great deal of time and effort to get a much more exact shape to these. They are complete with buttons and brown leather chinstrap.

What is included with the cap?

The cap is supplied with buttons and a brown leather chinstrap. Some caps have air vent grommets, but others do not. The cap does not include a cap badge.

How accurate is the chinstrap?

The chinstrap is not historically accurate and is a common point of concern. It is often too thin, too short, and does not fit correctly on the cap. The leather of the chinstrap can also be the wrong colour, sometimes appearing as raw leather.

What are the common manufacturing flaws?

The peak can be misshapen due to the stiffener being fitted askew. There can be a hard lump at the back of the cap where materials overlap, which can be uncomfortable. The stitching through the headband, which holds the sweatband, can be inconsistent and wander.

Is the cap comfortable to wear?

The cap's body is generally very stiff, which is accurate to original SD caps. However, some caps have a hard lump at the back where materials overlap, which can dig into the skull. The stiffening in the body can also make it uncomfortable for some.

Can a cap badge be fitted to the cap?

Fitting a cap badge can be difficult or impossible due to the way the stiffener is constructed. This is a recurring issue with the cap.

Can the cap be reshaped?

Attempting to shape the hat by putting it in water is not recommended. The colour in the lining can run and stain the seams of the hat when it dries.
