What period do these boots represent?

These officer ammo boots are a reproduction of footwear worn by British officers. The style was in use from approximately 1900 through to the 1960s. This makes them suitable for a wide range of historical impressions. They are not designed to look like modern military boots.

How do these boots fit?

Sizing can be inconsistent, with some boots fitting true to size and others running slightly large or small. Some boots are described as a little slender, while others have ample room for orthopaedic inserts or thick socks. It is recommended to consider wearing thick socks or insoles if the boots are marginally too big.

Are hobnails included with the boots?

The boots are available with or without hobnails, and there is some variation in what is shipped. Some boots arrive with hobnails already removed, requiring the buyer to install them, while others come with a set of loose hobnails. It is possible to specify a preference for nails or no nails when ordering.

Do the boots require a break-in period?

The thick leather used in the boots means they may require some breaking in. However, they are also noted to soften with wear. Some boots have been comfortable for long walks straight out of the box.

What is the quality of the construction?

The boots are generally well-made with solid stitching and construction. The quality of the leather is consistently praised. Some boots may have minor imperfections in stitching or small marks on the leather, but these are often not visible or come off with use and polish.

What is the sizing convention for these boots?

These boots are made in US sizes. If you typically wear a UK size, you may find that a US size one larger than your UK size fits well, especially with thick socks or insoles. For example, a UK size 9 may find a US size 10W to be a good fit.
