UK Mid-War Tropical BD Trousers

These trousers were introduced around 1943. They were worn throughout the Mediterranean campaign and in Southeast Asia. They are suitable for late war Burma impressions with the addition of original buckles. The pleated leg pocket is a key identifying feature.

These trousers have a high-waisted, wide-legged, and baggy military style. They are cut well for tall people. The waist adjusting buckles allow for some adjustment up and down as needed. The fit is generally considered comfortable.

The fabric is described as nice, sturdy, and of good quality khaki drill. The khaki colour is good and matches the current KD belted bush jacket and aertex shirt. The fabric takes dye well if you wish to change the colour.

Sizing can be inconsistent, with some pairs measuring smaller than the stated waist size. For example, a size 36 may measure as a 34-inch waist. It is often necessary to order one size up from your normal size. The waist adjusting buckles help with fit.

The inseam is typically 32 inches when new. Some pairs have an inseam of almost 34 inches when new. The inseam will shrink by an inch or two if tumble dried.

The trousers come with metal buttons. These buttons can be sharp and may cut through their stitching, sometimes falling off. Some trousers have been modified by replacing the metal buttons with plastic or original ones.
