US Leather Watchband with Cover

This watchband is a reproduction of a private purchase item popular with GIs, especially paratroopers, during WWII. It is also noted as being similar to items sold in men's magazines in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The design is not suitable for Vietnam-era military watches. It is a faithful copy of the original design.

The watch cover is designed to fit watches with a diameter of approximately 30-35mm. Some watches with a 32mm diameter fit tightly, and a 40mm watch can fit with some effort. Watches larger than 34mm may not fit.

The watchband is designed to fit a range of wrist sizes, including smaller wrists. The cover cup fits perfectly on the strap when worn. Some individuals with small wrists have found the band to be very large and have needed to adjust the strap length.

The straps can be thick, which may make it difficult to fit them through or around some watches. Some adjustment, such as thinning the leather where the watch pins attach, may be necessary. Once adjusted, the watchband works well.

The snap on the cover may not always align perfectly with the snap on the strap. This can result in a slight bend or bunching in the cover when fastened. Despite this, the cover remains functional.

This watchband is suitable for outdoor activities and can protect a watch face from scratches. It is robust enough for demanding environments. The cover is effective at protecting watches in situations where they might otherwise be damaged.
