UK Liner for Mk I Para Helmet

This reproduction liner is specifically for early model British Para Helmets with four holes. It is also suitable for converting a Dispatch Rider's helmet into a Mk.I Para fiber rim. The liner can also be used to restore a Mk.II Para helmet, though this requires cutting a third hole in the back. It has been successfully fitted into 1955 AVF shells and 3-hole Belgian shells, which may require drilling new holes.

The liner is made from aluminium. It includes a leather band, which may contain foam padding. The chinstrap is not included, but the liner is designed to fit a leather chinstrap.

Nuts and bolts for attaching the liner to a helmet are included. The liner is designed for the leather chinstrap and does not have the brass fittings for the later web chinstrap.

Sizing can be inconsistent, with some liners running slightly large and others a little small. One size below your normal can fit well, but ordering the next size up is recommended if you are unsure. Some liners are true to the size ordered.

The liner can be modified for a better fit. Padding can be added to the leather band, or a little headband foam can be removed to make the straps fit better. The liner can also be reshaped if it has been knocked about in transit.

The liner is suitable for reenactment purposes. It allows for preserving an original liner by using this reproduction in its place. The liner fits perfectly and keeps the helmet stable even with the chin straps undone.
