Officer"s Canvas Bedroll with Leather Straps

This bedroll is a reproduction of a design used by British and Commonwealth officers during both WWI and WWII. US officers also purchased many similar bedrolls during WWI. It is a reproduction of the Wolseley Valise, a combination bedding roll and kit bag. The design is suitable for Great War officer's kit.

The bedroll is constructed from heavy khaki canvas. It features leather trim along the edges and sturdy leather belts for securing the roll. The leather straps are rugged and the leather binding adds a touch of class.

When fully loaded with a blanket, sleeping pad, and inner blanket, the rolled bedroll measures 14 inches tall and 30 inches long. Unrolled, it is 72 inches long from the head's pillow roll to the foot pocket. Opened flat, the bedroll measures 72 inches long and 70 inches wide.

When fully loaded with a full-sized Pendleton blanket, a Thermarest pad, a jungle sleeping bag, and a microfleece inner blanket, the rolled dimensions are 14 inches tall and 30 inches long. It is capacious and can contain a significant amount of kit. The bedroll can accommodate two heavy-duty wool blankets and still form a compact package.

Unrolled, the bedroll measures 72 inches long from the top of the "pillow roll" at the head to the bottom of the foot pocket. When opened flat, it measures 72 inches long and 70 inches wide. This size is understandable given the amount of gear an officer had to carry in a valise.
