US M1908 Mounted Pattern Raincoat for Cavalry

This is the 1908 pattern raincoat, but as it was made beginning in 1917 in sturdy rubberized canvas. Previous ones were made in oil treated cloth that did not hold up well. The rubberized canvas should give you many years of service. This model has two sets of closure at the front: one for dismounted wear which closes the front, and one for mounted wear which leaves an opening in the front to go over the horse. The back is split to the waist with a large gusset to go over the horse and saddle.
