Later this sling was used for the original M1921 and M1928 series Thompson submachine guns. This sling is shorter than the sling purchased for the M1917 Enfield. It measures 14 1/2 on the short side and 46 on the long side.

US General Purpose Strap (Original)
This is the adjustable strap with a snap hook on each end that replaced the musette bag strap, and was also used with the G.P. ammo bag. These were adopted in 1944 and were probably all O.D. Mine are unissued, Korean War dated, O. D.
