A new version of the USMC wool shirt was adopted in 1917 and was issued extensively during WWI
Both versions 1905 and 1917 versions were used in the Great War and used into the 1920s until the Marine Corps designed a new summer field shirt and was introduced in a lightweight cotton fabric.
