An old favourite
(2025-12-07)

This has sentimental value for me. My grandmother had one of these as a peg-bag in the 1960's. Rain-washed to a mouldy white, it was my 'load-bearing' equipment for all my childhood adventures. Its original owner had used it as a school bag 50 years before that so it's a robust design.
For info: The bag measures around 28x22x15cm in use, giving a nominal capacity of 9,25 litres or more. The top flap is narrower than the bag so, in practice, a waterproof stuff sack inside will keep kit dry and prevent the contents falling out. The strap is long enough for me (6' tall) and grippy enough to keep the bag in position on one's side. The brass peg needed light filing underneath to avoid abrading the eyelet stitching.
Thanks, WPG, you have made an old man very happy.
